Foster care program

Our foster care program provides quality services to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. The goal of the foster care program is to reunite the children with their families or to place these children with families that share the same values and are willing to give these foster children a loving and nurturing home and family environment through proper training and support from Light Restoration Child Placing Agency. Our foster care program provides services to children of all different ethnicities, ages, and creed. This includes children at the basic, moderate and specialized level. The children and adolescents are placed in homes that will provide emotional support, care and love. The foster care parents are carefully screened and trained. Children in foster care receive the same services, training and supports as the foster care parents.

Treatment services for children in foster care

Light Restoration Child Placing Agency provides services to children who have mental health and developmental delays. Staffs are specifically trained to handle the special needs of these children including teaching of daily living skills, communication skills, and social skills. Emergency placement services for children who needs short term placement are offered child-care services for more than 14 consecutive days and limited to no more than 60 days per year. Light Restoration Child Placing Agency’s Treatment Director will create an individual specialized treatment plan to treat and/or support children based on their evaluation documented in the child’s record.

Independent transitional living

Children 14 years old can participate but older children, regardless of the residential program they are in, are required to participate in Independent Living Skills training. These training's focus on the skills necessary for children to live on their own, or for the skills necessary to navigate the decisions of young adulthood. Topics covered are higher education; career training; budgeting/banking; maintaining a home; cooking/nutrition; health issues; legal issues; and other relevant topics. Each child develops an Independent Living plan with the help of the Independent Living Coordinator. This plan dictates the steps necessary for each child to accomplish their goals. The goal of some of the children taking these training may be to return to their parents or family member. Nonetheless, we provide these training to them in order to impart the skills necessary for them to achieve their higher education and career goals.
